We’re always busy planning new workshops and courses, even during the current school year. We recommend subscribing to the phaenovum newsletter to get all the latest information about new courses being offered.

Contact your school to find out if it has an IT or robotics club or whether there are any teachers who are actively involved in this area. Teachers are generally thrilled about having enthusiastic pupils and will help promote their efforts.

The RoboRAVE Germany robotic competition is organised by phaenovum. phaenovum offers workshops and courses to assist potential RoboRAVE Germany competitors.

Participation in the workshops or courses probably won’t be quite enough to prepare you for the RoboRAVE competition. Teams (together with their coaches) will have to prepare for the competition on their own.

No, attendance at the courses is not a prerequisite for participating in the competition.

The robot also has to be built by the participants. However a very simple robot with a differential drive, which is the basic model described in the standard kits, is ideal for the a-MAZE-ing and Jousting Challenges.

Phaenovum has LEGO Mindstorms NXT and EV3 robots as well as Makeblock mBot robots. These are reserved for the courses, however. You will need your own robot (kit) to compete in RoboRAVE.

No. You will need your own robot (kit) to compete in RoboRAVE.

Generally speaking, yes they will be. However if you’re preparing to compete in RoboRAVE Germany, we also recommend bringing your own robot. For more information, please refer to the course description or ask the teacher of the course.

Open platform means that any robot (kit) is permitted, regardless of the manufacturer, up to a total retail value of EUR 1,500. This is something we’d like to stress because many robotic competitions are promoted by the manufacturers themselves and limited to their own models. We’re independent!

Contact your school to find out if it has an IT or robotics club or whether there are any teachers who are actively involved in this area. Many schools have already purchased robot kits and the teachers are happy if they’re finally being put to use (again).

There are only coaches at RoboRAVE International. Those are adults who support one or more teams (as a trainer/coach). However they, themselves, are not members of the team. Every team at RoboRAVE International has to have an adult coach. We want to eliminate this restriction at RoboRAVE Germany. That means we want to make it possible for youths to form a team without an adult coach. As the organisers of RoboRAVE Germany, however, we still need one contact per team. This contact is the team manager. Nevertheless, we’re still thrilled about every adult who coaches a team!

The basic rule is: RoboRAVE is all about having fun and learning - and learning that learning is fun! Winning is secondary!

Your team has to be able to score points on their own at the competition. That means they will be on their own on the playing field. Of course as their coach, you can help your team prepare and assist them between scored rounds.

Select the right challenge for your team. For beginners, we recommend “Jousting” and “a-MAZE-ing”.
